International Flight Traffic
The following is a map of international flight routes and traffic volumes to gain an understanding of market share, hubs, and networks across airlines and payload types.

Passenger Traffic Data
Key observations:
The following maps illustrate the dominant international passenger hubs and flight networks. Click on a carrier in the legend to highlight the carrier's segments.
Asia
- United has the most extensive Asian network, with the most passengers of any U.S. carrier in every Asian hub besides Seoul.
- United is the only one of the Big Three to fly to India, Manilla, Guam, Taiwan, and Melbourne
- Delta has key hubs in Seoul, Shanghai, and Japan, but has a low market share in Bejing and no flights to Hong Kong, Taipei, New Zealand, or Singapore
- American has the weakest Asian footprint, with the least market share of any airline at every airport it flies to. Key routes American has include flights to Hong Kong and Aukland, both destinations Delta does not fly to.
- None of the local carriers in Asia were big enough to appear in the top 20 airlines, so they are not included in these maps.
Method
- The top 20 international carriers by passenger volume are included (this excludes some local partners of the large American brands, but is necessary for simplicity)
- Only flights to and from the United States are included in this data

Freight Traffic Data
